For the record, I must say I support BOTH camps, and buy music from both. Love DDY's the music of Styx, and Styx' last two studio cds C and BBT.-ERIC

I only hide behind my computer when Jack Bauer is pointing his gun through my 53" big screen and it scares me off the couch directly in front of my desk :)

I like the sentiment of your other post and I agree with it. Personally, I enjoy sales number because I enjoy that kind of data regardless of how good/bad it is. I honestly don't see this as Styx vs Dennis DeYoung anymore in terms of sales. We do, however have the same problem as everyother forum on the planet in that we have people who troll threads looking for something to slam in an attempt to make it more about themselves than about the topic or artist in question. In the future, I'll simply be ignoring all such posts.

I do what I do and say what I say. People don't have to like it. That's the bottom line.

It's a forum... people will say things you agree with. People will say things you disagree with.

And, some will call other people trolls, say the truth hurts when it is only their opinion...and then give the advice for other to leave.

I had to learn how to take my lumps and read things I didn't agree with - and you can too...

I do that every time I read an internet forum. I don't agree with most of the crap here and I hardly ever post now....mostly because there isn't enough talk that I *DO* agree with.

Anytime the forum becomes the topic - it's usually over ego and not over content. Just get over yourselves. This is supposed to be recreation, not bullshit.

It IS bullshit. That's the point. It's constant here, unending...

I don't see how you can say it's about 'ego'.

I honestly think when people make negative comments about DDY or the current Styx lineup, they should not be taken seriously...This is a fan forum for Styx, Past and Present, and you should learn to take negative comments with a grain of Salt...

Eric (Abitaman), I'm with you on this one...If both camps provide me with good music (as they did) then they both get my support.. 8)

Zan wrote:Hmmm...If you don't like it, there's the door. I've heard THAT before! LOL (flashbacks of my mentally abusive mariage for a second - thanks for hanging in there with me).

Well, to my knowledge, there is no board that favors Styx over DDY, unless you're talking about Styxworld, which has little activity because of the membership thing...Plus, I personally (speaking only for myself) don't really know many people on that forum, as they came into the picture much later than my core group. Most "Styx" forums I visit talk about other stuff more than Styx - and when Styx is discussed, it's ticket info, new releases, Tommy notes, Dennis notes, show reviews, questions about labels or merchandise, etc. The collective Styx opinion part of it wore out when we lost the trolls.

Oh wait - when you said "favors Styx over DDY," did you mean a place where Styx wasn't getting slammed everyday on a regular basis by the same 4 people? In that case, there's plenty. It's a marvel, indeed. You should check it out sometime. It can be done.

This is the only Styx board I know of that still lingers in what was and likes to kick dirt in each other's faces - and I have seen unwarranted attacks from both sides, albeit the "facts" posted are usually from the DeYoung camp in the name of "defending" him. I will give credit for there being little name-calling, however. But still. Ash made a great point earlier (no, really - he did) that this stone throwing out of boredom or just to stir the pot is a waste of time. And knowing that we're not as bad as we were 6 years ago might SEEM like it should come as a great relief to me, but somehow, it still seems...lame.

If it applies to you, then take it or leave it, if it doesn't apply to you then just leave it. Contrary to what some of you might be thinking, I am not upset or angry at all - just observing something I find troubling that seems to be widely accepted and rationalized in this forum.

Furthermore, I apologize, Ash, for misunderstanding where you were going with the computer internet/opinionated world we spend time in. In the past, and in not-so-recent past, I've seen a LOT of people get really brave online - then in person, they cower like a wet kitten. Even though I was off base about your point, Ash, I still draw some parallels in that from a computer screen, we tend to dwell too much on insignificant stuff a lot longer and in more detail than we would otherwise. It's still not an excuse to contradict yourself on a regular basis or to be a flaming jerkoid (not calling anyone here a jerkoid, btw). You can hang out in a pub or bar, or out with your friends and talk shit all night - its the same thing, but have you ever had a friend or buddy who just insisted on telling the same story over & over, even after you've reminded him that he's doing so? What about the friend who says one thing and does the other on a regular basis? or the girl who gossips/casts judgements about everyone else, but turns around and does the same things herself? (Ash, are we agreeing or disagreeing? I can rarely tell except for that one time in the political topic last week. lol)

In these instances, sometimes we might say "Hey, that story's getting a little old," or "way to be consistant, bonehead." And sometimes we end up having to walk away from these friends because it just gets tiresome listening to/witnessing it. Sometimes, the friend will genuinely want to hear the truth, and sometimes, they'll say "go hang out elsewhere."

This is a "take what you want and leave the rest" life, people. All some of us are asking for is that some of you play fair. You don't have to listen or care. We do have the right to leave, that is true, but some of us like it here and would like to continue enjoying it here without being reminded everyday of the pseudo war still being fought by those who refuse to let go. Have at it.

One more thing - this is STYX board, not a DDY board or classic Styx board. If you want a haven for the DeYoungian posse to rally, then perhaps it is you who are the ones who should find that haven, not the Styx supporters. Oh wait - but this is a Styx board, not a new Styx board. Gosh, I guess we should be respectful of ALL the fans, not just the ones we agree with. Like, stop posting slanted facts and half-truths, for starters. And stop creating turmoil where there is none, for godsake.

And Ash, if you'll click my link below, you'll see that at least one of the members of my household is indeed curing cancer. :D

And he thinks we're ALL nuts.

This whole thread is pretty ironic coming from someone who has never been bashful in her constant slamming of one Dennis DeYoung in a very sarcastic, passive aggressive manner...

Personally, I enjoyed things better when there was discussion about past Styx albums. Aren't we on Cornerstone now?

The only thing that really pisses me off about the people who post here is that EVERYONE knows JY with his aerospace degree was the member who split the atom. For people here to say it was Dennis who did it, is flat out wrong and spiteful. EVERYONE knows it was JY!

As Tommy brokers with Bono for world peace, lets all hope that miracle cure Dennis came up with does in fact cure cancer.

Todd may really be on to something in dealing with the homeless, and I could not agree more with Gowan on the imigration issue.

It is also pretty neat to read what Ricky, Chuck & Glen say about the use of The Lone Star card in Texas. Their points are well taken!!!

Good old Yogi...nothing like some levity. Thank you.

I still see it as a matter of perspective. Some think that Dennis is exalted too much and the band is slammed too much, others think Dennis is slammed too much and the band is exalted. I think it has everything to do with personal preference...just as I have to think it lies somewhere in between.

And reaching for the broken record one more time...since we aren't going to change the opinions held by those who frequent this board, I say...go enjoy who you like...cuz it will end sooner than any of us would like.

Peace

What's even more interesting is this is coming from a newcomer, who wouldn't have been around during that time.

Or maybe I have you confused with someone else, AnnieO?

She did like using the word "ironic" a lot.

Um, I do post about Styx too and the members of Styx on here, past and present.

I thought some people like when I post about Dennis and Styx information. I was just having fun with some of the posts. I guess if you don't like to see what I post, read the heading and then don't read it if it doesn't interest you. That's all I can tell you. I read everything, but that's just me.

Most of the people on here aren't members of the Yahoo groups, Dennis groups or other Styx groups. Also people on here don't visit Dennis', Tommy's, Todd's, Glen's, Chuck's or the Styx websites. So I try to put all the information I can find on here. The same with articles or pictures floating around.

From now on I'll (TRY) leave my smart ass or funny comments off of the information I post. Most of the time I'm just trying to be funny. I didn't think people were that offended. Yikes! I guess I'll just giggle by myself. I've seen some funny comments on here by other people.

I personally do care about everyone's new album, Dennis, Styx, Glen, Shaw/Blades. I'm either given them or I do purchase all of them.

I also care about the set lists with all the line ups. I LOVE to know what they're playing in concert. When I hear that Tommy is singing "Boat on the River" I crave to see them live, or even "Lights". I love to post the set lists of concerts that I've seen too.

With the wardrobe, I just think it's fun to talk about. Just look at the avatars I put up - LOL

That's the gist you got out of the entire post? That you should stop posting information that I personally don't care about? lol

wow.

You're getting warmer. How about - just posting ALL the information, not JUST the information that paints the picture you want to paint? SUCH AS - I think it's great that Dennis sells out concerts. I really do. Just because I'm not at them, doesn't mean I'm not happy for the guy. But to post a slew of "ANOTHER DDY show SOLD OUT" follwed by "Styx's shitty sales numbers" is not even half the story, and you know it.

You make a point not to post the facts about DDY's Nashville gig, where the place was half empty, and the seats were "buy one, get one free." Where were your stats then? What about the shows Styx sells out? Where are those stats? If you're really here to spread the news, then spread the news, not just the news that backs your agenda. That was my point.

Most of the time I'm just trying to be funny. I didn't think people were that offended. Yikes! I guess I'll just giggle by myself. I've seen some funny comments on here by other people.

As have I. Please note that I'm not "offended." I just think it's crap, and it's getting old. Maybe you could "try to be funny" in the other direction once in awhile. It might seem "funnier" that way. lol

I know you do. And I like that about you - I wish I saw more of that and less of the slanted journalism.

And for "Annie," I have never denied being harsh on Dennis in the PAST. But I think there's a time when we need to get on with it. Why IS it so hard to get off the subject of he said/he said, anyway? Do these discussions release that much dopamine???

So, maybe its time for YOU to start setting the example here.

Give it a rest.... ALLLLL of you!! You take music waayyyyy waaayyy to serious.

Some of you are just as bad as the critics who slam Styx and its members every chance they get.

Wanna know why Styx is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame???????

Go into your bathroom, find the sink, then look up about two feet from that sink.

Whatever you see looking back at you might be the reason that the band Styx doesnt have a permanant home for all music lovers to admire in the State of Ohio.

I thought the forum said Styx old things and new, not just the current Styx lineup. Besides if you want Andrew to start a new forum about individuals who want to control everything in a band, after you add DDY and Steve Perry, update it with Tommy Shaw and James JY Young. I think Glen Burtnik would second that motion.
