People who find no fault in what they have done - or are willing to forgive the faults in some that they won't forgive in others.

I find no fault in JY or anyone else who dislikes Dennis or some of the things he's done because I don't believe every line of crap my "friends" in the DeYoung camp feed me? Look - all I'm saying is that if JY sues Dennis with the intent of trying to keep Dennis from touring, promoting himself or his music then isn't he just as big of an ass as Dennis was for suing Styx back in the late 90s? And yet on another forum when I asked how people would react if this happened many on this forum (which has a much more pro-current-styx slant) reacted with "Oh its just another lawsuit - big deal" when you know that if the tables were reversed there'd be a crucifixion.

I'm guess I'm too naieve at this point to assume anyone's opinion could be changed at this point. Everyone has basically picked their side.

On another note - I realize my note sounded like I was picking on Zan and singling her out and that actually wasn't my intent - so for that I apologize. I was just trying to use her as an example of how the other side argues and it wasn't meant to sound like a value judgement. So for that I hope you accept this as my apology for that.

You're making huge assumptions here. As I recall, the majority of people from that board responded with overwhelming indifference, because many of us, just don't care that much anymore. That goes for either side.

100% agree here. I've been slammed for being neutral all along, and at this point, "camps" makes no sense. As with Journey, if you support one singer (or side) versus another, there's no point in tearing one down to build another up.

Just be thankful we had 1996 and 1997. Otherwise 1991 would have been the end for the "formal" Styx legacy. The glory days are long gone, and the bus I doubt is coming back.

So noted. Thank you for explaining. I do agree that one side ripping the other is daft. But I think "joining them" at their level gets nothing accomplished. been there, done that, got the internet stalker.

But now? In June they were back and played Belmont Country Club...which holds no more than 1,000.

Maybe JY suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

I hope this won't qualify as tearing anyone down (lol), but I did some research, and this venue not only holds more than 1000 people, but the night Styx played there they had an attendance of over 6,000.

Just sayin'.

That tour has bad memories for me, and was the beginning of a 2 - 3 year period where I didn't listen to Styx or anything related. I'll leave it at that. That's how much the band had pissed me off at the time.

'97 also marks the only show I ever walked out of - the NJ Garden State Arts Center. Once I heard "Queen of Spades", I was gone. I had heard enough. It was the only real rarity on that tour anyway (ok, so you got "Dear John" and "On My Way", but who's counting?).

Showing? ha! That's an understatement. I felt '97 was very much "going through the motions". I saw one show before the Arts Center one and was underwhelmed. I think it was Atlanta, and I left during the encore. I usually never do that.

IMHO JY and Tommy can say what they want, but they should have NOT toured in '97 and given it a rest. The attendance was lower also because the novelty had worn off. Honestly, I felt that Pat Benatar as an opening act had more energy than Styx both shows.

And by that point in the set you would have already heard "On My Way," so.....

Which I genuinely enjoyed. The "Dear John" moment was nice as well. The rest was all formula.

Agreed. They sounded better than 1996 - tighter for sure. If I was blind, I may have enjoyed the show. That's no disrespect to those who are blind, but if all you had to base your comparison of 96 to 97 would be audio, you would say, "That's a tight band!" But I also think that you would say recording(s) of 96 would have more emotion and heart in 'em. Even "Queen of Spades" in 97 for as good as it sounded, didn't seem like they band was at all into it. "Dear John" was the only moment that truly struck me as genuine in the show.

Replying to my own post here because it was in error. The venue does hold >6,000. But according to the guy at the venue website, Styx brought in between 2500-3000 that day. Blue Falcon was exaggerating, but I was likely inaccurate with my figures. Carry on...
