Complete rubbish I'm afraid. Look around, there is a ton of open threads regarding Perry

Not the ones I started.

LOL...that sounds like the moderators at BT!

As for being biased – bwahahahaha. No more biased for one side of the argument than you are for the other.

The point of a moderator is to NOT be biased.

I'll stab the fuck out of it. It was Journey before Perry. It is Journey after Perry. It has never been Journey without Neal. And never will be.

Maybe not, but both of the Storms cd's are more Journey than Generations.

Hell, "Two Fires" is more like Journey then Generations. Evena Hugo CD is more like Journey then Generations.

I swore I would never reply to one of your inane posts ever again. But seriously dude - what the fuck?

Are you EVER going to let this go? Are you EVER going to stop having a go at me? If the answer is no, I will delete your account today, because I have had ENOUGH.

Honest to God, you are fucking relentless with your bitching and moaning. This is my forum...you know how it runs, it was always been that way and if you don't like it - bugger off already.

In this instance I really honestly don't care if I get some crap for deleting you or whatever....but this is my forum and you never show ANY respect whatsoever.

I have attempted to pacify your complaints, but they still relentlessly continue day in and day out.

So - are you going to shut up about the way these forums are run, once and for all? OR NOT?

Oh, please, that decision is yours, not mine. I post how I post...and I agree with a lot of what Froy and others here have said. You're just getting pissy because people (not just me) are raising the same complaints - again.

So, if you're going to kick me off for doing that, that's your decision...But, there are others on the Journey forum who do a LOT worse then me, and you know it.

Andrew,

I will do as you suggest and post more often. I guess in the end it is the only way that I can make the message board more of what I would like it to be. Paint me guilty of thinking out loud as it were, I'm more than anything just stating the obvious that many good posters have decided that it is easier to leave than continue on. I don't want to call anyone out as to why I bitched in a previous post, but I would like to address two posters who are taking alot of heat here.

1. Froy...Love him or hate him, he is a known factor. His incessant repetitive posts may be a waste of cyber space, but he is harmless and never approaches posting in a combative nature. Anyone who meets him in person, swears he's a great guy, he simply has a belief and sticks to it...much to the shagrin of others no doubt. :D

2. Monker...This is a guy I used to loathe. The proverbial stick in the mud. But I am starting to realize that perhaps I don't loathe him, but dread him. Whenever I slip up, he calls me on it. If nothing else he makes my posts more insightful. Much like Froy he tends to be a bit repetitive. But he's rarely confrontational with his posts.

I would say that many others that post here regulary have crossed the line much further than either one of these two. I would, personally, be sad to see either leave/be kicked out of the message boards. And while I know that as moderator of a message board you do need to occasionally make an example of someone, I would ask it be someone other than either of the aforementioned duo.

Yours in soon to be more frequent posting,

Derri

Great post, and very true. Froy is actually quite harmless and even sorta charming in his own demented way. I've never had a problem with Monker - I've always found him to be insightful and a "think outside the box" sorta person, much to others' chagrin, no doubt. ;-)

I'm really glad you'll be posting more often, Derri.

No, the decision is YOURS.

I know you will never stop posting your inane views, nor will you ever change the holier-than-thou attitude you have towards everyone - BUT - if I get one more whinny bitch and moan about how the frum is run, then I WILL make the decision.

5 years of your consistent and continual moaning is ENOUGH.

Thanks Derri.

I only have one problem with both Froy and Monkey - their continual digs at myself and complaints on how the forums are run.

They can post whaever they like - well, we all know what that is as the content never changes - but at this time I choose to stand up and say I have had enough of the bitching from them both.

No more bitching about me = no more problems.

I will tell ya what Andrew go and find me 1 post about me telling you how to run the forum
You won't find one
You need to take a break from this board your not even reading it right anymore.
I have never gone up against you until you started deleting my posts
I consider that issue over.
Don't mix me in with Monker who may be the one who questions you on how you run this thing.
I think you run it fine if you just delete the profanity and keep the freedom of speech alive

I'm a newbie and don't know much of the history here so I will try and refrain from forming a direct opinion on the topic....One thing that is disappointing is the sad state of music message boards. Every board that I've been around is full of bitching, false rumor posts by "insiders" (see any Van Halen board for a perfect example of this), complete disrespect for people's opinions, disrespect toward the moderators, personal attacks on the posters, etc.......The sad thing is that I think the majority of people just want to share their views with other fans on these boards, but it never works out that way.

I guess it may be the anonymity provided by the internet that makes people feel like they can act like jerks and ruin it for everyone else. Many boards get shut down because the mods just can't take it anymore. Sad.

Gotta say that I agree with ya. It's not just music boards either. All in all, there are quite a few well behaved, intelligent posters here. That is why it is the only board I even bother with.

Stick around, it will be worth it. Just keep a somewhat thick skin. :D

EXACTLY. However, their posts and good intentions are drowned out by people who HATE their point of view, and do anything within THEIR limits to drown it out. So, what's the point of Derri going over to the Journey forum here, or on BT, to post views about Perry? A few people will just play their version of "Whack a Mole" until the person is beat up enough that they just don't see the point any longer. That is the problem here. It is the problem on BT. It USED to be the problem on the Journey mailing list, until recently..but, it's fairly inactive now...and, I have complained about it ON ALL THREE FORUMS - have been kicked off the mailing list MULTIPLE times (years ago, before BT even existed), and now threatened of being kicked off of this forum. Ironicaly, BT - the bane of so many people here - has let me have my say...and the mailing list finaly saw what I was talking about and even asked me to be a moderator, which I really don't want to be.

It's the moderators job, IMO, to not allow that atmosphere to continue. It's the moderators job to tell them to "let others express their opinions or get off my forum." It's also the moderators responsibility to STICK BY THOSE DECISIONS once they are made...not to kick someone off for two weeks and then let him back on after two days because people complained about the decision. It's the moderator's job to promote an atmosphere where discussion from a variety of perspectives and viewpoints is not only allowed, but ENCOURAGED. Diversity of opinion breeds good discussion. Extreme attitudes who can not express themselves without a "fuck you" attitude KILLS good discussion and that person needs to either change their attitude or leave the forums they post on.

That is how it should be on ANY forum - not just this one. This forum, BT, the mailing list...any other forum you can think of.

So, if I get banned for complaining about something SO OBVIOUS - that's ANDREW's decision, not MINE...Cuz, *I KNOW* there are people on this forum who do a LOT worse then I have ever done.

Hi Andrew,

You are right; it is your website. So, you are the one that sets the tone. That is how I see it, anyway. That tone could stand to be modified down a notch or two in some of your boards. In many of your posts, your words convey such a deep level of frustration; that frustration is possibly clouding your judgment in a lot of cases.

After reading your strong ultimatum to those that consistently hold your feet to the fire, I definitely feel that you have lost perspective. You told those two that they can post “anything” as long as they don’t bitch and moan about you. What message, exactly, are you meaning to send here? Freedom of Speech? Tolerance? Double Standards? Intimidation? What is it? If you are striving to sanitize peoples words here in your place, perhaps, I might suggest you start by getting a bottle of Lysol to swab down some of your other boards.

I have to take issue with one in particular; The Journey board IS a mess. IMO, it has been for a long, long time. Seriously!! Why don’t you start there. I, personally, have chosen not to deal with the bullies, the intimidators, the stalkers, and, on and on and on… Most of which breeches my sensibilities; so, I tune out. My guess is, by reading your example over the past several years, that you have also.

After years of pacifying those with their laundry list of gripes, you NOW want it to stop. Why now? Why do you charge back with LOADS of profanity and harsh threats? Andrew, you now want to stifle a couple people for simply critiquing your work/website. If you are truly comfortable with the work that you’ve done here, does it really matter to you what anyone writes or thinks? You might try to grow a thicker skin. Like my husband tells me, “Suck it up and take it like a man”. While sometimes it is annoying to sift through the repetitiveness of those posts, it seems less relevant compared to the double standard that you have create by turning a blind eye to the bullies that forge personal attacks on other members for merely having a different opinion. You know who those people are. You set the tone. When you refer to a member’s posts as “inane views” and tell him to “**** off”, publicly, instead of privately, you set the tone. You talk about receiving no respect from Monker. Do you honestly think that you would gain respect from him or anyone with those words? You set the tone.

There was a time years ago that I came here seeking open, intelligent music related discussion; but, sadly, I found that some of the same vicious “trolls” that frequented other fan boards with their venomous name-calling and personal attacks were given a safe haven to flourish here. Over the years, some of the names have changed; but, the tone is the same. There IS a perceived favoritism shown towards those that shamelessly and repeatedly kiss your ass. Some of those same exact members are far worse offenders than the two that you chose to call out here, IMO.

After reading back through my reply, some of my comments or opinions came off a little snottier than I first intended; most of which is due to the dry written word on a page. But, it still closely expresses my thoughts on your methodology. Whatever, it’s just one person’s opinion.

Thanks for the space,

Catherine

There's no such thing as Freedom of Speech or tolerance on a message board.

Running a website/message board is time consuming. I can only imagine how tough it is for Andrew considering the amount of traffic this site gets. When you put that much blood and sweat into something you have the right to decide when to let things go and when to become fed up. You certainly don't have to put up with someone denigrating your efforts.

I think Andrew does a fine job and think we should leave the decisions of when and how to clean up the board to him.

Thanks Andrew.
