That hand reminds me of a Stephen King short story I read years ago where eyes popped out on the fingers of people. I don't remember the name or plot of it. It's just the first thing I thought of when I saw that avatar.

I believe the story was called "I Am the Doorway" from the book "Night Shift". Great story about an astronaut infected w/ some alien being in space. Who checks out our world through the eyeballs that develope on the astronaut's fingertips. Cool story!

That's it! I read it years ago but it has stayed with me. I need to revisit that compilation. Is that the same one Landoliers was in?

You mean the Langoliers?

Yeah, that.

No, I think the Langoliers were from "Four Past Midnight". I don't know how I remember all this, I haven't read any Stephen King in at least five years.
I petered out while reading the 4th book of the Dark Tower series. I should try to get back into that series after investing all that time reading the 1st 3 books

OMG you've got to go back to the Dark Tower. I don't know how far you got into Wizard and Glass. It got a little boring when they got to Mejis, but it gets better and the next book is great. It was the Dark Tower series that really got me into King. I read a few before but only became a huge fan trough the Dark Tower.

Thanks, I'll try to pick up where I left off this week.

I hope you do. You won't be disappointed. :D

ohsosoto wanted to post these, I prefer to remain anonymous but I will appease her. I am the blonde, Stacey is the brunette. The top photo was taken at the Journey concert in St Louis and that is my beautiful daughter with us. The second was taken at Tom Petty show with my 7 yo son hiding behind me.

Thanks guys.
I don't know if our story is the ultimate story of love or if I just don't want to die a lonely widow. See, Kirk and I have a deal (mostly cuz Kirk says this is the way it is-no arguement)-if he dies before me I am only allowed to remarry a past, present, or future member of Journey-Steve Augeri has been excluded-up till about August he was number one on the list.

So, in a round about way I did it for Journey!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (so none of them have to spend the rest of their lives with me!)

I haven't seen Southridge in about 15 years, & I hated it, so I forgot about it, including what it looked like, lol.

Cutler Ridge...haven't been there since we left before Andrew hit it.

Very nice picture, Nat. My brother was a 'non-cardiac' organ donor, which means he wasn't brain-dead, but rather suffered from a severe TBI and hypothermia that essentially left him in a vegetative state.

His wife felt like he wouldn't have wanted to live like that (although it had only been about 5 days since his accident), and therefore decided to make him an organ donor. I have ABSOLUTELY no argument against organ donation, but I witnessed everything they did, from putting Betadine and other chemicals through his NG tube to help with preservation of the organs, to literally euthanizing him (they gave him a massive amount of morphine IV to stop his heart/breathing, which it did ~ but after about a minute his heart started beating again and they gave him another massive dose of Morphine, which did the trick). He was euthanized. I'm not sure how I feel about it, even to this day, because if he had to die, he certainly did not suffer. And I've been with many people over the years as they're dying (held both my parents as they took their last breaths), but that was the sickest motherfucking thing I have ever seen!! I guess, though, as bad as it was, I would be there with him again, if necessary. I couldn't let him go through it alone.

The only comfort I get out of it is that in giving his life, he possibly saved many others...and I'm sincerely happy for you & Kirk, Natalie!!

Gosh, Donna....sorry about your brother.....sorry you had to go through that..... ...seen alot of death myself......some are harder to take than others....due to cicumstances...like the way they die......as in your brothers case. Put myself up for organ donation for years....but your story makes me think more about it...wouldn't want to put my family through that.....but I do believe in it....and I'm glad it gives you comfort that your brother gave of himself to help others and that part of him now lives on in them.....and he will always live on in you. :(
