I think I listen to Meat Loaf and Mr Mister for now and if I feel like taking a nap I put on Desert Moon.

1. Save Me
2. This Time Next Year
3. Respect Me
4. Forgivenesse
5. I Don't Believe In Anything
Grotelul wrote:Like someone said in an earlier post, if you like Dennis De Young's solo work you should really like this CD and if you are not a big fan, you probably will like a few songs but will pass on most others. This is a departure compared to what he has done in recent times. It is his heaviest music since Desert Moon. To compare it to Equinox? No way. I hear a little bit of Desert Moon era sound, early 1980's pop/rock (some of them remind me of some slower Mr. Mister tunes), Meat Loaf, throw in a few Oberhiem sounds and a surprise or two (One song has a Southern Rock feel with slide guitar) and there you have it. The background vocals are really good on a few songs (Styx sounding) but on others I found annoying. A lot more guitars on this CD with more than one track being used for guitar. All in all, in my opinion and for my taste his best effort since Desert Moon.
1. One Hundred Years From Now-We've all discussed this one
2. This Time Next Year-Little bit of Little Suzie and Desert Moon era sound. Styx sounding background
3. Rain-Think Meat Loaf
4. Save Me-Slower tune, Desert Moon era/ Edge of the Century sound. Styx sounding background-Good tune
5. Breathe Again-Slow tune...about Suzanne
6. Crossing The Rubicon-Most sounding like older Styx..think older Styx with Hunchback style vocals, theater
7. Respect Me-Bluesy organ tune-Not bad at all
8. I Believe In You-Think Desert Moon era upbeat pop.
9. Forgivenesse-This is one that sounded like slower Mr. Mister to me-Good tune
10. I Don't Believe In Anything-Southern feel to it. Acoustic with slide. Different..which I like to hear from him.
11. Turn Off CNN-Basic Rocker with a little Rockabilly feel and lots of guitar.

Thanx for your suggestions Grotelul.(What's a Grotelul anyways??).Will see if we agree.
I am listening to it for the 3rd time.
IT IS NOTHING LIKE EQUINOX.FALSE ADVERTISEMENT>
Now I have no problems saying it is his best solo cd ,easy.
It sounds like Tommy is singing backup on several songs.
If anything,it is a cross between Cornerstone and PT,and then something else.
(Dennis being in a playful mood.(About time))
I could do without the ,yet another song for Suzette.
There is plenty to dig into here.
And that I will.

I thought Back To The World was Dennis's HEAVIEST & best solo effort. I also liked Boomchild much better than Jello Moon.
PLEASE dont compare Dennis's latest effort to Desert Moon. I am anxiously awaiting its arrival, and you are scaring me.
I know that Froy has compared 'One Hundred Years From Now' to 'Equinox'. Since his comparission came right after His (Froy's) Assembly Line Comparing & Contrasting the delicate odors of Dennis Farts, I took His review with a close pin and a grain of salt.
I'm just hoping that its an effort worthy of Dennis's TREMENDOUS talents. I also hope that his songs dont come off as preachy & broadwayish.
Until then I look forward to hopefully my NON Desert Moon flatulent smelling CD.

Well you missed the Eq sounding songs
The intro to Breath Again is a total Prelude 12
Then Crossing The Rubicon is the other EQ sounding song IMO
No matter what the cd is new and creative and it shuts up that big mouth welcher Chicago Styx
who does not know his ass from a hole in the ground,
[/quote]Let me know when this CD is for sale in the USA and no matter how bad it is I'll still have to buy you dinner as long as it's before the end of the year.

I just don't know if they can top Cyclorama without Glen's contributions. His awesome background vocals were all over that album.

Just remember. There are a lot of people on this board now who have a strong anti-DDY bias to what they bring to analyzing his music -- old and new. And some apparently are doing so before even hearing the CD at all.![]()
Take that into consideration if you read some of the reviews before you have had a chance to form your own opinion.
We just need for the wagon train to get our copies of this CD from Canada to Texas so we can put our own biases into play.![]()

I have listened to the complete CD and formed my OWN opinions that there are Desert Moon era styles there. Someone else is going to hear something other than that and that's fine. I can say this though, Froy is going way overboard on saying this is a GREAT set of songs. He is trying to pump up his man and that's fine, I just don't want to see people buying this CD and expecting Equinox. Sure there is maybe one section that sounds like it was lifted from Prelude 12 and that is about it. Other than that it sounds nothing like Equinox or in my opinion remotely close to the quality of Equinox. I have nothing against DDY just because I follow the current Styx. I just prefer the way he used to write and sing prior to 1979.
