Wow I don't get syrupy from those. Faithfully is pure syrup to me.

Is it blasphemous to say I can't stand any version of that song. Or Open Arms... err... I'm way more into the Rolie era.

Okay, you...uh...."opened the door" so I'm going to blaspheme myself right here and now: I cannot STAND "Open Arms"! Not by Perry, Augeri or Soto. No one. The song sounds like fingernails on a blackboard to me.

I'm so ashamed....

There are more Jonathan Cain fans than you might imagine, Moon. In fact, I was delighted to see that 25% of MR members voted that Cain was "an angel" in a recent poll.

That blew me away, too.

Ultimately, I'm a JC fan. This empowers me to cheer when I think he's done something good and jeer when I think not. In your comment that opened this long and tiresome thread (mostly about you and your ever-inflating ego) 8) you unfairly compare JC with JSS.

As I tried pointing out: JC was a nobody when he joined JOURNEY and replaced a somebody in Gregg Rolie. As I see it, JOURNEY launched JC's career rather than him launching theirs! That's another argument entirely. What I'm saying is that out of all of the nobodies that have joined JOURNEY (including SP) JSS was perhaps the most qualified nobody. I think the potential with ihm at the helm was equal to if not greater than it was when JC replaced GR.

I think that's the fair and reasonable way to look at it. Your comments seem to say, "JSS toured for a scant few months but JC's been with them for years therefore he's more worthy of our admiration and JOURNEY's commitment." So what did you say when JC replaced Gregg Rolie? Did you not see the potential in JC or did he have to earn your admiration?

 Fyre - you know I love your posts and have even defended your most obscure metaphysical ramblings - but this comment reveals a frightening detachment from reality.

If they'd fired Jonathan Cain after eight months I would also say...thanks for the contribution but you haven't had the opportunity to earn the same affection and respect I feel for the long-standing members of the band.

And - again! - you avoid the name of the guy who disproves this claim of yours that Journey have the midas touch when it comes to nobodies. Well, that name is of course...Steve Augeri.

An interesting side-note for those who are vastly over-inflating JSS's contribution to the band - and indeed the potential of that line-up in the market and the media. The new issue of Classic Rock magazine - the biggest and most mainstream magazine about CR/AOR in the UK - devotes one tiny column to JSS' departure. And that's after they gave him a poor review in March for the live show.

I don't share the attitude of this magazine - but when I saw that tiny article yesterday it made me realise how insignificant the events which have given everyone a nervous breakdown on this forum are to most people who follow this type of music.

Yep.

Me, you and Abitaman.

Quite the voter turnout I'd say.

 Yes - maybe I ought to have explained that only 7 people voted for that option. BUT it's how they work out TV ratings isn't it? I believe it's called a 'representative sample' in the trade.

I'm not a fan of Open Arms - but Faithfully and WCTNGOF kill me....

Also consider his general taste in music. He LOVES Air Supply & Barry Manilow.

Comments like this do beg the question...why do you spend half your life on a wimpy AOR forum, Susie?

The real reason he likes Perry is b/c he sang Friga's songs.

And that's why I love Augeri too.
