No self respecting citizen of these United states would ever criticize a soldier for doing his or her job, following intructions and carrying them out. However, War is Hell, and your friend gave the ultimate sacrifice, however, I must ask you....was it worth it? Was it worth him giving his life for this? For what?
This whole idea linking Iraq with our security is nonsecial. Iraq was never or would never ever be, a threat to the United States. Iraq is easy, or should have been easy. Somalia, North Korea, and Iran are the complicated states. The reason we went to Iraq is nothing what the Administration has sdaid it is. The reason we went there was for quick political gain for Shrub, and an "easy war" to win. Too bad we didn't have a plan, an exit plan and some fucking brains about doing it right. It's all good though, because the president wears a Flag lapel, and his daughters are safe. What does he care what soldiers perish? He could give two shits about any fallen soldiers.
And coincidentally, the world is much more UNSAFE now than it was 5 years ago.
Deano,
Not sure if you are talking to me or not...but my bro-in-law was in the North Tower on 9/11 and was killed. He did not serve in Iraq.
Now, rather than argue every single point you make above, and believe me I could, I will simply state that the country Iraq is only a "battleground" in the larger "War on Terrorism" and yes, Al Queda is there (who cares if they were there before we got there...they are there NOW) and we should continue to fight them. Oh, and btw, we didn't go into Iraq to get revenge for 9/11, we went there to potentially stop another 9/11 from happening!
We are SO MUCH SAFER now than we were pre-9/11. Not safe enough...but safer for sure!
Never questioned your patriotism. Don't put words in my mouth. Thank you for serving this GREAT country!
