Imagine all of the things you would miss out on...First words, first steps, first birthdays, etc etc...If you had your 3rd or 4th child at this point, maybe it would be easier to say goodbye and come back in 9 months...But the experience of a first child is truly one of the reasons we are put on this earth to live this life, and it wasn't something I wanted to take for granted. If nine out of ten people here would have sold out that experience for a few hundred thousand dollars, then that's a true shame, and maybe says something to the state of the world we live in.
Jeremey,
I can tell you that, after almost 18 years in the military,
13 deployments (anywhere from 3-6 month stretches) to the
Middle East and a one-year remote to Korea, NO AMOUNT OF $$$
can replace the time lost from my family. Heck, by the time my youngest is
2 yo, I will have missed 11 months of her life because I am going right
back to Iraq in January... It just isn't worth it.
I can DEFINITELY understand your reasoning...
Good Luck with this endeavor.
Well somebody has to storm the castle...
