DDY is doing fine. So is Styx.

How can you be doing fine when not 1 person is showing up to you show?
I'll tell you what fine's NOT: A middle-aged man obsessing over a band he worshiped when he was a teenager to the point of making up bogus stories and ill-ridden comments about them on a regular basis for years on end.

Well, here's the thing: I like DDY. I've seen him live plenty of times since 2000/2001. I do not think DDY being in the band would up their numbers by an insanely significant amount these days.
I would say that they "miss" (relative term folks) his songwriting and input that way than they do live.
Journey has gone through more lineup changes than Styx in the past 10 years, and their songwriting hasn't necessarily gotten better. Other than JSS, they've had soundalikes.
The Arnel story is a good one, but I don't think you would complain any less about Styx if they got a soundalike and had success a la Arnel. Yet you do give kudos to Journey in other threads.

froy wrote:Your right and that is the problem,
Gowan has added absolutely nothing to STYX and I mean nothing.
He has not even written a song that has been heard by anyone.
How in gods name was he anything in Canada the guy is laughable.
All he does is punch in his programmed keyboards and then butchers Dennis 's songs.
Fans have seen enough and thats why not 1 single person was in the pavilion at that show.
froy wrote:The miss allot more than that
From a multi platinum band to nobody showing up to see them is the end of the road.
froy wrote:Yea but at least they headline and there new cd has already gone gold
Styx can't even put out another cd
Look at the numbers of the last cd under 20 thousand
froy wrote:If Journey sandbagged Perry like STYX did to Dennis they would get the same fate.
You forget STYX thought they were going to rewrite STYX History without Dennis and guess what they were dead wrong.
I find it no surprise that people would rather hang out at the bar and drink rather than see STYX
Look at the video people walking by and not even looking at the stage.
That says it all

Froy. Why are you the way you are?
Do you wake up each morning and think of stupid things to say here?
is life that bad?
Have you ever said one positive thing about Gowan?
Your blind hatred for that man is a philologists dream

I would rather have the worst case of diarrhea than listen to Gowan sing
The reason STYX is so bad is best described in 2 words Larry Gowan
Case closed

I consider myself to be functionally retarded most of the time,
but it took me less the 10 minutes, which included getting a soda and shaking the dew of my…… well you get the point, to find a video from this same show. This video will not make you motion sick and it show that the lower pavilion is full except for the season ticket holder’s private boxes.

Im glad you study my posts
Keep up the good work
Yea all 3 have ruined STYXHell, you've even belittled Chuck's role in Styx and have insulted him (remember that little ditty you said about comparing him to one of the apostles?).
YEP Judas thats Chuck
Stab right in the back
Hows that working out for him?Yet you won't acknowlege that your hero had anything to do with the way the current Styx is now.

Tanirocker wrote:OK, let's recap.
Styx is getting booked so much that they are on the road constantly, at about $100K per gig. Then there's their merchandise, which is pulling in big bucks. Their catalog still sells.
They've headlined at "tiny" venues like the Staples Center in Los Angeles. They have headlined sold out shows at every House of Blues in the US, play all of the big casinos like the Luxor in Las Vegas, and have toured Europe several times now.
But because you don't approve of the lead singer, NINE YEARS later, they're failures. Nice grasp of reality, dude.
