I'm with you 100% here. That shit is VERY overrated. Hell, Tom Brady is usually the first guy off the field whether he wins or loses. Now, if Tebow is a guy who usually hangs around the festivities, and only disappeared because his team lost the game, then my opinion would be vastly different.

It's like that whole handshake-gate with LeBron last year. I'm the first to criticize LeBron because I think he's an ass despite the fact he plays for my team. But what the hell was he supposed to do, sit there and watch Dwight Howard's pearly white condescending grin and Rashard Lewis's doping ass celebrate in his face and wait until they were ready to shake hands? Who cares. It's like saying "Good luck" to your opponent before you start... why the fuck would I wish my opponent luck?

Now, if it's a sport where a handshake at the end is custom, that's different. Most sports aren't that way.

And LeBron not shaking hands was fine, but the way he refused to do any press conferences and threw his teammates under the bus and forced them to field all the tough questions was not.

I think you guys are missing the point....although, of course, I cannot read Tebow's mind, I would suspect that the tears had less to do with the actual loss of the game but the loss of the opportunity to go out with another National Championship. He's nearing the end of his college football career-moving to a new era in his life-I can totally see how he'd be tearful about all of that...I don't see him as a crybaby at all, just a man that's not afraid to show his emotions.

We're not missing any point. Some of us simply don't agree with you! You're a Tebow apologist for your Florida buddy, which is more than okay, but doesn't change the fact that Tebow needs to man up, lose the moronic eye black with the bible scripture, and get ready for real football if that's what "God" has in store for him!

Sorry...no excuse. This is why Florida sports fans don't have a great reputation as being great fans. Listen, I was devastated when the Patriots lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl, to lose their perfect season, but I was on this board within 10 minutes of the game ending and took my fucking lumps! If you're going to run your mouth endlessly on this forum, then man the fuck up and take your lumps when you get kicked in the teeth. At the end of the day, nobody died. It's only a football game, and life will go on.

Good for you. I find it preachy and fucking obnoxious. I'm quite certain that when he's walking through the local Winn-Dixie, that he's not exhibiting that he's a "God fearing person" by having bible scripture in eye black, that's basically tape. It's nothing but an attention grab, and the football field isn't the place for it.

Because no one watching college football while slugging down beer and pizza gives two fucks about what some blowhard named "John" said over 2,000 years ago.

OK, so that explains why you shouldn't care but still doesn't explain why he shouldn't do it....it's who he is, like it or not-he's not trying to please you something that's very admirable-being who you are despite what other people think or say...

I'm all for people having strong religious beliefs but this is something that is personal and shouldn't be plastered on your face in a sports venue. He was fully aware that there was national coverage of this event. I would much prefer a player work on his offtime quietly doing volunteer work, donating money or even preaching (Reggie White, i.e.). But popular college or pro players have alot of influence with impressionable young people. I'm sure there are regulations about product endorsements, but it would be kind of like him having a patch on his jersey advertising Budweiser. I'm sure there are people that would object to that as well. You just have to know your audience.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Thanks Dano. Couldn't have said it better myself. If the guy is a devout Christian, good for him. He should go knocking door to door in his free time, and "spread the gospel", but leave his teammates, fans, and university out of it. As someone who played competitive football, the last thing I want to see my star QB lugging under his arm is The Bible. Based on the way Tebow played, perhaps a playbook would have served him better.

Are you kidding me???? Yes, that would be terrible if someone actually read the Bible because of Tim Tebow's eyeblack... .

I cannot believe you guys, you're freakin' killing me.....he's not forcing his religion on you at all. What if he had a scripture tattooed on his arm, would that offend you? You're really grasping here!

Then if it was just a reminder to himself, write it on a piece of tape under his wristband playbook or something. Not on his eyeblack - IN A DOME - where the only people who can read it are people looking at him.

That's obnoxious.

Spot on man. I had to look at a new "Florida Gators RULE!" thread seemingly every other day and had to hear about how Tim Tebow is the most perfect person since Jesus himself the entire season - and then when they finally lose a game, nobody can say anything about the game without being "classless." Not even make fun of anyone who's a Florida fan. Just simply discuss the game.

:?

I would if a player started every interview off by saying "we need to give thanks to my tattoo..." and I had to hear about why everyone needs to listen to his tattoo. I just find it annoying that Tebow, and most certainly other athletes, use the sport as their own personal platform.

This is really the heart of the matter. As a sports fan, you need to be able to man up and take the good with the bad... especially if you're gonna be vocal in your support of your given team(s).

I have always liked Tim. I just want that fucker to show up so he can take a good old fashioned verbal sports beatdown, as is privilege for sports fans. Plus, this is MR ...

This is the fun in sports... I used to love trashing my buddies about the Steelers and havin them rib me back for the awfulness that is the Browns. It's all in good fun, even for diehards
