Thanks to all for your concern, you all are great!! but i'm living in the north of Chile since february(before i was living in santiago), so i can say i'm very lucky this time , altough i have family and friends in santiago, so i couldn't sleep all night trying to contact them, but i was able to reach them at the end and all seem fine, only material lost wich is the best news of all =)

Anyway thinks don't look great for the south of chile and santiago, still is increasing the numbers of deaths, but still i think could be worse for the magnitude of this earthquake, like what happen to other countries not long ago..anyway any news i will post it here. Thanks to all of you again :)

Nobody mentioned this part...

The quake struck after concert-goers had left South America's leading music festival in the coastal city of Vina del Mar, but it caught partiers leaving a disco.

"It was very bad. People were screaming. Some people were running, others appeared paralyzed. I was one of them," Julio Alvarez told Radio Cooperativa.

I wonder what the concert lineups were? :(

Thanks Jana, and yes is the same Journey festival, Viña del Mar city also was affected, so the Festival is suspended and also all types of massive concerts..so far i know...
-There is 147 deaths confirmed few minutes ago
-Santiago Airport is closed for now
-There was also hughe weaves (15 meters) in Juan Fernandez island, some people is missing, is not a tsunami i think, but is direct consequence of the earthquake, still is not confirmed the number of deaths there :?

I am glad to hear you are safe and well.

Vehicles that were driving along a highway that collapsed during the earthquake near Santiago are seen overturned on the asphalt Saturday Feb. 27, 2010 after an 8.8 -magnitude earthquake struck.

i'm trying to understand this photo. did the upper deck hit the lower deck with so much impact as to make the cars bounce up in the air, then overturn? edit: i see that there is just a single deck over the ground. that makes this even more confusing.

glad you're ok, carla!
