Tommy: Not too long ago, you were everywhere creating new music (Shaw/Blades, Damn Yankees, Your Solo Projects, Cyclorama). For the past few years, your writing seems to have pretty much stopped. Are you saving songs for a rainy day or are you going through writer's block?
Jy: Was there really no other way around the firing of Dennis?
Chuck: In the early days, your bass playing could be pretty adventurous. Right about the time of the A&M albums, you seemed to reign yourself in. Was that more a direction from the songwriter, or just your own way to change things up? More importantly, how are you feeling these days?
John: What's the funniest joke you know?
Glenn: So when Dennis asked you to play with him, did you guys have to sort things out? There were a lot of comments made about him and I just wonder was it "Hey, the past is the past" or was it "we need to clear the air"?
Lawrence: How do you put up with so much sh*t from Styx fans??? Thanks for hanging in there.
Ricky: Loved The Babys. Tony Brock had a great feel. What was it like playing with him?
Todd: What are the comparisons (as a drummer) between playing with Chuck and playing with Ricky?

Would be mighty impressed if you got an answer from John.....![]()

Todd - Who is stranger, Brian Wilson or Dennis DeYoung? Are there any similarities between the two?

As for Glen it would be who was better to work for Tommy/JY or Dennis???

How come nobody likes Ricky? Man, I'm learning the bass (I already play guitar) and I like Ricky's playing quite a bit.
I'm learning the bass for a Styx tribute deal. I'm actually there to sing the Dennis stuff, but I don't play a lot of piano, so...
(how's that for irony Toph!?) I think Ricky's a really good player. I love what he did with "Everything All the Time".
Maybe I'm wrong, just like his playing.

Gowan - You've been put in an impossible position. Is it really worth it?

He plays the verses and the solo to BCM wrong. Recorded it's basically dotted quarter/eighth notes to give it a bit of bounce. It goes to solid quarter notes in the chorus (for the most part). Every time I've seen Styx live with him, it's been basically solid quarters all the way through. He changes the entire feel of the tune.
What's to learn with Styx bass parts? I can do 'em in my sleep
brywool wrote:Well, to sing and play bass is more the trick. To try to sing Madame Blue while playing that bass line took a bit of figuring.
Same with Lady and GI. I'm new at the bass and have been a rhythm player forever. So it's just new to me. It's way fun too. I did read your post the other day about BCM and listened to it. Yeah, he does do that, doesn't he?

"Keiferb"
Gowan: Do you feel any guilt whatsoever for destroying the music of my youth with your shallow, whiny head voice?
Ricky: Do you throw up in your mouth when you hear Gowan mangle these classic songs?
