Dennis HIMSELF must give permission to use those songs on video. He may have to give permission to his attorney to give the OK, or do it imporesonally with a signature...but the simple fact is HE had to deal with it.
This was not part of the old lawsuit that expired. He already had those rights. Why would Dennis be so stupid to GIVE UP those rights after a certain amount of time. It makes no logical sense at all.
Why would Styx even go through the trouble of recording the DVD if they did not already know it could be released? Those who dismissed it are very myopic. I would think this 'deal' was done a VERY long time ago.
Dennis got something out of it. Don't know what...But, that's the nature of how things work. Maybe it was money, maybe it was the rights to release versions of Tommy and JY's Styx songs. Nobody really knows right now...but, he got something out of it or he would have no reason to sign it.
This is a good deal for Styx...if they bundle the CD's with the DVD, with a decent price, I'll buy it...I'll bet a lot of people do.
