Philadelphia at Cleveland - Another season of the VASTLY overrated Mike Vick. I say he's injured by week 4. That said, this is the Girl Scouts they're playing. Eagles by 17.
New England at Tennessee - The Jake Locker era begins in Tennessee. This Patriots team is now officially the youngest team Belichick has ever had. The oldest player on their defense is Vince Wilfork, who is just 30. I expect this Patriots team to have a significantly improved defense, following their AWFUL performance last season! Look for Gronkowski to continue to be completely unstoppable and for Aaron Hernandez to have a monster season. I believe the Patriots will go 13-3 this season and fully expect to see them in The Super Bowl. Their first loss of the season will be week 3 against Baltimore (which I'll be thrilled about, so I don't have to listen to the mindless "undefeated" talk). Patriots by 14.
Atlanta at Kansas City - I continue not to be sold on Atlanta. They should win this first game, easily. Not so fast. Tony Gonzalez will get the obligatory TD against his old team, but I like KC in this game. Chiefs by 7.
Jacksonville at Minnesota - There are some good matchups week one. This isn't one of them. Vikings by 7.
Washington at New Orleans - This game is my "lock of the week". I think New Orleans wins this game against ANY team in the NFL. They are going to be emotionally fired up for this one. Saints by 21.
Buffalo at NY Jets - The Shitshow in NY continues. Sanchez sucks, and Tebow sucks more. Fitzpatrick to wildly inconsistent, but usually looks good early in the season. Bills by 7.
St. Louis at Detroit - Major mismatch for the Rams against Stafford and Detroit's high powered passing game. Lions by 17.
Miami at Houston - Schaub is back (at least for now), and Houston has a formidable team. I suspect both Arian Foster and Matt Schaub will both be injured at some point, as they always are. Houston by 21.
San Francisco at Green Bay - Superb matchup of two very good teams. I'm looking forward to watching this one. Green Bay won't even attempt to run the ball against the Niners' stout defense. Rodgers passes for four TD's and wins. Green Bay by 7.
Seattle at Arizona - Russell Wilson against John Skelton. This should be fucking riveting! In honor of Dean, Seahags by 7.
Carolina at Tampa Bay - Big year for Cam Newton to show that last season wasn't a fluke. Tampa isn't very good and Carolina is a very average team. That said, the Figster is a difference maker. Carolina by 10.
Pittsburgh at Denver - Another game I'm looking forward to this weekend. It finally looks like Ben has learned how to put the fork down and lost some weight. That fucker will be over 400lbs within 5 years of retiring from the NFL. I've heard a lot of the so-called "experts" say that Pittsburgh isn't an elite team or are "done". I'm not buying it, even a little. I don't think the Steelers are Super Bowl favorites by any stretch of the imagination. That said, this is still a very good team and Ben is a very good QB. Time for Peyton's coming out party in Denver. I've said it all along...Peyton simply isn't the same player when he is forced to play outside in the elements. As great of a player as Manning has been, his numbers would be FAR less impressive if he hadn't played more than half of his games in a 72 degree bubble on carpet. I think Manning will have a less than stellar season (at least by his standards). Steelers win by 10.
Cincinnati at Baltimore - I loved what I saw out of Dalton and AJ Green the first part of last season. That said, they both faded in the second half of the season faster than Oreos in my kitchen cabinet! Baltimore isn't getting any younger. I love Ray Rice and think he's a stud running back. Flacco is a VERY average player and isn't leading anyone to the promise land. I'm still on the fence about the Ravens when it comes to whether or not they have one more "run" in them with this defense. We shall see. Ravens by 3.
San Diego at Oakland - Two teams that are ALWAYS picked to be "the team" at the beginning of every new season. I still like Phillip Rivers and the Raiders are still the Raiders. Chargers by 10.
JFB, join my pickem league. All you got to do is sign up on ESPN.com, go to Pig-skin Pick'em and join my private Melodicrock league with melodicrock as the password. You can just pick the teams you think is going to win and it'll do all the tallies of W's and L's weekly.
EDIT: NVMD, just seen now that you're in there. Cool beans.
