My philosophy is so many people have helped me over the years. How can I not help out? I do what I can with hope. :D

Well good news kinda. An old buddy from high school hit me up this week.
He wants to hangout tomorrow with me and he said he'll bring his wife
along (yeah i was surprised about that as well he's only a year older then me).
Anyway he's a foreman for a construction company that's doing some work on local
interchanges right now. He said he'd put in a good word for me so
we'll see what happens. Fingers crossed.

That sounds great! Good luck with it, and hopefully he can help you get your foot in the door.

Sort of reminds me of when I lived in San Francisco with roommates 21 years ago. There was this sort of young bum who would always say "got a quarter" in a very alcohol fueled raspy voice. I never had a quarter for him. Crazy thing is when I go up to the city now, 21 years later he's still around, but this time he's got like 100 pounds of gutt almost knocking on his knees when he walks.

There was a study in the City of Glendale (CA) about ten years ago. There were beggars averaging close to two hundred dollars a day. The city used the national guard armory for a winter shelter for these guys but never had enough takers to fill all the cots. Come to find out, a lot of these homeless preferred to stay at the cheap $ hotels because they could drink and smoke there. They made enough cash panhandling where they could make that choice.

I believe it. I have a friend who does armed security for a company in La Mesa, CA and he was telling me about some guy he knows who shows up in messed up clothes and panhandles during the day. At the end of the "shift" he gets into his nice new car parked a few blocks away. He says they have talked and the guy told him that he averages $400 a day panhandling the area. That's tax free too!

Closer to where I live in the Bay Area, I was on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) one evening and sitting in the stall next to me on the train was one of those dudes who spray paint themselves silver and stand on a milk crate acting like a robot for the tourists. He was sitting there counting his take-in from that day. I couldn't believe all the dough that guy had that he was pulling out counting. Had to have been several hundred dollars.

Would have to agree with that. Having a good job or any job is indeed a gift unfortunately most think its a choice. Choice is appearance, on the surface only, it seems we have choice because its not examined. If there is choice it would have to be on all levels but thats not the case, so there maybe limited choice and that right there is the illusion. Having no job may be a gift also and therefore its not a lifestyle Choice with a simple change in persecutive.
Life as it IS is the gift.

Thanks, MG :) We got a couple of thunderstorms, but the big stuff was south of us. I live north and a little east of Fort Worth. There were some pretty strong storms that just skirted north of us too that I was glad we missed. Was a crazy evening of being glued to the tv and watching which direction the storms would go next. I don't remember storms changing directions to that degree before. Strange stuff.

Confused :D we've all been there and typically the way its dealt with is too try find our way out of it to a state of clarity. How do i know when I'm confused ? it is because it appears in Perfect Clarity our natural state in which all experience appears. When confusion disappears it is also known therefore I'm not the confusion but in fact Perfect Clarity.

I had encouraged him to take that, there were many choices but he lives in florida so I told him to take the Ac technician course that they offered. He could stay in the south or come out to Arizona. There is always tons of work including overtime in that field in the hotter states. Well, he just sat around and talked about it but never did anything and then all of a sudden he was cut off and looking for help..........when he had free training staring him in the face :? . I think what happens is you get complacent and lose motivation and create your own demise so to speak. Every state has this type of program for free and there are tons of government programs that support low or no income families, and you can get the money even if your white.

After Katrina I was out of work and our house was all screw up. Went to school off the state and lived on unemployment during that time. Been back on my feet for 7 years now. But I can see how hard it is to stay focusdduring that time.

Speaking of Bieber, apparently he's touring around with a monkey in which the Germans seized from him. WTF! Traveling with a monkey. Sort of like MJ and "bubbles" but Bieber used MJ's lessons learned and got a monkey that won't fuck you up when it reaches puberty, as what happens with male chimps.

Fact Finder wrote:In Cincy we have some sort of organized panhandlers. A handler will transport them to various spots around town, drop them off to beg for a few hours and then pick them back up. I've seen one in particular near our local Burger King and I'm in the burbs. Dude stands in a traffic island right outside the drive thru exit. It's pure genius, on one side of the island is BK with traffic going left and on the right side is an Ice Cream store which exits with traffic going right. Plus there's a stop light right there, so most cars have to stop and look the fucker in the face. One morning I watched a BK customer (lady), pull out there and hand the guy a five. Then about 3 weeks later this same dude came knocking on my front door and I knew immediately who he was. He claimed to be a war veteran and was asking for a few bucks to paint street numbers on the curb, he was carrying paint and brushes in a backpack. I pointed out to him that we don't have curbs with painted street numbers and sent him on his way. :D

Just recently saw a news report about this where we live, and it's amazing how this operates and the serious cash they can make. One guy even bragged about making $400-$600 a DAY. Pretty incredible. I've been asked if the "homeless" person from here is no longer with us, and no, I'm told they're fine, definitely not homeless (and never was), and supposedly had a baby with their longtime partner (who was apparently unaware of their own "homelessness" ). I'm pretty sure my very friendship with the person was made fun of and talked about by one in a very crappy manner, but that's fine, drama lovers prove to never rest. Who knew it could be such a problem to simply be humane and a friend to someone claiming to be so down and out. But I guess that's happened here numerous times from what I'm told and probably will happen again, same story different people.
