He wants to hangout tomorrow with me and he said he'll bring his wife
along (yeah i was surprised about that as well he's only a year older then me).
Anyway he's a foreman for a construction company that's doing some work on local
interchanges right now. He said he'd put in a good word for me so
we'll see what happens. Fingers crossed.

That sounds great! Good luck with it, and hopefully he can help you get your foot in the door.

Sort of reminds me of when I lived in San Francisco with roommates 21 years ago. There was this sort of young bum who would always say "got a quarter" in a very alcohol fueled raspy voice. I never had a quarter for him. Crazy thing is when I go up to the city now, 21 years later he's still around, but this time he's got like 100 pounds of gutt almost knocking on his knees when he walks.
There was a study in the City of Glendale (CA) about ten years ago. There were beggars averaging close to two hundred dollars a day. The city used the national guard armory for a winter shelter for these guys but never had enough takers to fill all the cots. Come to find out, a lot of these homeless preferred to stay at the cheap $ hotels because they could drink and smoke there. They made enough cash panhandling where they could make that choice.

Choice is appearance, on the surface only, it seems we have choice because its not examined. If there is choice it would have to be on all levels but thats not the case, so there maybe limited choice and that right there is the illusion. Having no job may be a gift also and therefore its not a lifestyle Choice with a simple change in persecutive.
Life as it IS is the gift.

Confusedwe've all been there and typically the way its dealt with is too try find our way out of it to a state of clarity. How do i know when I'm confused ? it is because it appears in Perfect Clarity our natural state in which all experience appears. When confusion disappears it is also known therefore I'm not the confusion but in fact Perfect Clarity.

During that time the state removed 20 of his 28 teeth(he was hoping they would remove all of them) and made him dentures for free. he was also given the ability to be retrained for free. I had encouraged him to take that, there were many choices but he lives in florida so I told him to take the Ac technician course that they offered. He could stay in the south or come out to Arizona. There is always tons of work including overtime in that field in the hotter states. Well, he just sat around and talked about it but never did anything and then all of a sudden he was cut off and looking for help..........when he had free training staring him in the face. I think what happens is you get complacent and lose motivation and create your own demise so to speak. Every state has this type of program for free and there are tons of government programs that support low or no income families, and you can get the money even if your white.

Fact Finder wrote:In Cincy we have some sort of organized panhandlers. A handler will transport them to various spots around town, drop them off to beg for a few hours and then pick them back up. I've seen one in particular near our local Burger King and I'm in the burbs. Dude stands in a traffic island right outside the drive thru exit. It's pure genius, on one side of the island is BK with traffic going left and on the right side is an Ice Cream store which exits with traffic going right. Plus there's a stop light right there, so most cars have to stop and look the fucker in the face. One morning I watched a BK customer (lady), pull out there and hand the guy a five. Then about 3 weeks later this same dude came knocking on my front door and I knew immediately who he was. He claimed to be a war veteran and was asking for a few bucks to paint street numbers on the curb, he was carrying paint and brushes in a backpack. I pointed out to him that we don't have curbs with painted street numbers and sent him on his way.
