Huge fan of Styx, but I didn't really think they should've done that - OR if they REALLY want to distance themselves from it AND be cool, they could've said something like "Styx was referenced on Jimmy Fallon with one of Dennis' biggest tunes, Mr. Roboto. Good on ya Dennis".
That woulda been cool of them.

Since they have basically stripped any reference to DDY from Styx I don't see them doing something like that.

yeah, I'm just saying that it would've been cool to do to prevent reactions like Tophs (which is legit). Even though Styx hates the Kilroy thing, to throw a bit of a crumb of goodwill to Dennis would've been cool for the fans of both camps. Personally, I don't think that Styx should've commented at all because they've gone out of their way to slam the song and period so much. Now, because in a moment of comedy, Fallon chose to pull that one out, all the sudden it's all "Ooh, he used OUR song" where before that, it was Dennis' song. I dunno. Love the band but wish they'd makes some better choices, that includes putting Dennis back on their site by the way.
Toph wrote:That is my biggest beef - stop talking out of both sides of your mouth. Either you ignore Dennis and everything he stood for and all his hit records or you don't and you accept what he brought to the band. Not this one foot in the door, one foot out type of behavior. Either you hate Roboto and don't acknowledge it or you do. You don't hate it when its cool to hate it and love it when its cool to love it. That is...can I say it?...hip hop hippocrissy hip hop...

But after watching this Fallon and Dennis kinda have the same hairstyle.
So the question is ..... is Fallon a Finesse user.?

There are a couple problems with this...
Every time a 'crumb' of goodwill is throw by either side, it gets blown out of proportion and turns into rumors of a reunion. So, it's better to just not say anything.
As for the removing of "Dennis" from the website...everybody assumes it is to 'erase his name from Styx history." It is assumed because of the bitterness the FANS have. Back when Journey's website still had a forum (years ago) Steve Perry's lawyer's got all excited and started threatening every website that had "unauthorized images" of Perry. So, to avoid legal action, the Journey website did EXACTLY THE SAME THING as Styx did...in fact, you couldn't even post a picture on their forum unless the website approved it first. So, since Dennis ALREADY sued the band once, why would they NOT remove him from the website to avoid another lawsuit? It makes perfect sense to me..."Whah! Your portrayal of me is defamation of character, I'm going to sue! Whah! I did not authorize you to use that pic of me, I'm going to sue!" It's MUCH safer to not mention him AT ALL...and especially to not show any pics of him, that would just be plain stupid.

Nope, pretty sure it was done out of spite

"pretty sure" does not equate to knowing it as fact and being able to prove it with evidence.

Opinions are like assholes; seems like everybody is one. Take it for what it's worth...

Boomchild wrote:I don't get why some think DDY should not have sued his former band mates when they forcefully ejected him. After all they refused to respond to his requests to discuss the situation. This was a business with legal contracts in which his partners violated terms of the contract. They basically forced his hand when they chose not to respond to him. He was protecting his part of ownership in the band. It's surprising to me that JY didn't go the lawyer route when they decided to boot DDY due to the fact that he seems to have a hair trigger when it comes to legal matters.

Ah, so that is how it works. Ok, cool.
I once heard that during Styx' first tour of Japan that Dennis was kidnapped by aliens and they replaced him with a Robot Monkey King clone. This is how the idea for Roboto originally came about.
Do you have proof that Dennis is not an alien clone?
I did not say you are wrong...I am saying there are other reasons this could happen.

Like the owners of the Styx site did not want to be sued by Dennis for using his name and image in a way he did not approve of.
Like the settlement may have said Styx could not use Dennis name or image in anyway to promote the band.
Like somebody farted in the room and blamed Dennis.
The truth is limiting it to ONE invented story says more about the people promoting it then reality. All they are doing is projecting their own anger and angst for the band and using this as one more way to project it and vent it. it's not 'reality' is the made up fantasyland of dysfunctional Dennis fans who are Styx unfans.

Damn, I think Dennis needs to sue them for copyright infringement on Robotos.
