No I'm not. Just a tiny small bit of Google searching:

But is acrimony between a U.S. president and America’s Fourth Estate anything new?
Nope.
All presidents — even George Washington — have had their snags with the press, Washington’s disagreements with newspaper editor Philip Freneau being arguably the most notable. Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson’s notes of an August 1793 cabinet meeting, during which Freneau’s broadside, “The Funeral Dirge of George Washington and James Wilson, King and Judge,” was raised. (Note: Washington did not die until 1799; Wilson in 1798.) According to Jefferson, this acerbic broadside “inflamed” Washington to such a heightened point that the father of our nation could no longer “command himself" due to “the personal abuse which had been bestowed on him.”
It's like music. Every older generation complains about the younger generations music being crap. It's the way it is.
There has always been parts of the media/press in favor of the party/philosophy in question, and other parts not in favor. That's they way it is, the it was, and the way it always will be.
While you are correct in that it’s always happened the point is is that it’s NEVER happened within the media to this degree.
That's just not true. Just in my memory, back in the Clinton years, you could say the "mainstream media" was for him, and conservative talk radio was against him...to the same degree that you can say FOX is for Trump and the mainstream media is against him. It's the EXACT SAME THING.
Nixon was INFLAMED by his coverage in mainsteam media. But, there was conservative magazines and press that supported him...THE EXACT SAME THING.
The media has now become the arm of one party or another& this comes from the top of the media company.
Do you not realize that this has been said for literally 100yrs?
You literally can go for months without hearing a positive story related to Trump or members of the Republican Party on CNN , MSNBC , NBC or CBS. When Obama was President the exact same could be said regarding Obama & the Democratic Party on Fox.
And, that is no different then when W was President, or Clinton was President, or when HW Bush was President, or Reagan was President. Did you ever listen to old school Rush Limbaugh and his complaints about this very subject? It's just NOT NEW.
The media was designed to keep the public informed by delivering the facts.
Nobody "designed" the media. Media exists to make money. Period. They cater to certain viewers/listeners/readers so they can sell advertising and make money. That is the way it has always been.
The idea of "Freedom of the Press" is designed so the government can not control media to the point where they are not critical of government. Government does not control the news, and never should.
Now with every beach of the news cycle delivering news and information every second to people’s phones , the internet, & TV it’s criminal that the news being delivered is always biased toward the angle the news agency wants their listeners to think. It’s mind control, it’s never happened like this before EVER, it’s totally dividing our country & it’s High Time that we should do something about it.
People have complained about this for DECADES.
It's also not "mind control". YOU control what shows up on your phone. YOU decide what network to watch for the news. YOU control what magazines you read and what websites you visit. The only thing media controls is the content...YOU decide whether to consume it or not.
The divisions exist because people naturally want to surround themselves with what they WANT to believe, whether it is true or not. Most people are not like me, who can watch MSNBC *OR* FOX and have sense enough to discard the bullshit...and I do watch both. So, people consume only one side, believe everything they consume, and think the other side is full of shit. But, it's not the fault of the media...it's the fault of those who are simple minded and can't step out of their comfort zone and consider that what they are consuming may not be truth.
So, to tie this back on topic to "With All Due Respect", calling the media assholes is not even addressing the above problem. The people who mindlessly believe everything they see, read, and hear are the real problem and where the change really needs to happen. Dennis was close to reality with the "Turn Off CNN"...but it's really "Turn off the Bullshit", because the only way anything changes is if media starts having shrinking profits...which goes back to the Mediasaurus speech which is what Crichton predicted would happen...but he did not account for the fact that the vast majority of people are dumb, lazy and naive and do not really seek out factual news....they prefer infotainment and drama.
