Odd JY KSHE Interview, Reunion? May 11, 2021

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Sun Jun 06, 2021 9:07 am

James Young - Talks about Styx, Crash The..Lp,Different Singers & Tours - Radio Broadcast 11/05/2021

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx1L5gC04qA&t=15s

This interview sounds like JY has no idea what the concept of COTC is. When asked if COTC is a concept album he says "a little bit" Just like Mission has no explainable concept. JY is on record saying he didn't want to record anymore. But it is Tommy's band. Not his.
Did the interviewers say they were told not to bring up Dennis? Yes they did! Oh my.
I have a copy of Dennis talking to these same guys.
It seems that JY is much more articulate and comfortable when he is bashing Dennis.

I thought he sounded GREAT. Very articulate. Doesn’t seem to think that a reunion with Dennis is in the cards now, but you never know ( paraphrasing his answer). Great answer. Thought it was a really good brief interview. He answered all the questions & dodged none.

Nothing to bash here. Just like DDY, nothing to bash in 99% of his interviews.

Great interview JY!!

Always talking trash about JY and Tommy. You listened to this interview with the main goal of finding something to pick apart. So sad.

Sad is correct!
What did JY say the concept was again? Question. Is it a concept album? JY “a little bit”. The concept on COTC appears to be not to sound anything like Styx.
And he actually called JY Dennis.

JY doesn’t even know what’s going on in his own band. As I have pointed out before “sadly” he just does what he’s told. Tommy says “I just wants to be happy” translate “the boss”. Mission accomplished. Wait I almost forgot, JY was not even in favor of the Mission
The point is Tommy Manilow Man Shaw bashed Dennis and his music and concept albums publicly for over 20 years. Why? And you Mr. Pitiful needed to continually join in criticize and ridicule him as well. Why?

And don’t blame the so called Dennis people, all they ever wanted was for him to be in the band because we loved STYX.
Your crusade as a BATHWATER drinker was to elevate Shaw and Young and tear down Dennis. Why is that even necessary? Because as a BATHWATER drinker you’re just following your idols example.
When Pitiful replies which he will, imagine a huge bubbly slurping sound in the background.
Why do I bother with this site, because like countless others I want one last chance to see them all together again. Plus we all know the Styx camp follows this site just ask CS.

I'll be happy to fill you in. It is not a story as The Mission was. It's an album with songs that were written around an idea same as Grand Illusion and POE. This information has been stated by several of the band members which is why JY said "sort of". Your jealousy is so obvious!

Yogi
Why did the Styx camp even have to tell KSHE not to ask questions about Dennis? Who said they would even do that.

I know CS and Sean claim Styx doesn’t even think about or care about Dennis but here’s proof of how ignorant those statements are. And CS actually knows better so he lies.

I listened to a series of radio interviews with Dennis where other dj’s said they were told the same thing whenever interviewing Tommy and JY. Why? Apparently they believe their audience is interested.
KSHE was angry about this dictate that they posted it on their web site.
You're a good person Yogi you support both camps. I have no gripe with you honestly. :D
I listened and understand the COTC concept from JY’s explanation. “A little bit”

GI, PO8, PARADISE THEATER and yes KWH are demanding you apologize for lumping them in with The Mission and COTC. Those albums had clear and understandable
themes.
Not all songs on any concept album will directly correlate to the concept. Understood and accepted.
But the Mission story, whatever that was is never supported by any meaningful lyric on any song. I read the story and was curious to learn about the participants. Captain Shaw, first officer Gowan, not JY? and JY the engineer. Engineer of a 3 minute song.

There is nothing to be learned from them. If you enjoy the music that’s great but don’t insult us for not being able to understand the point of visiting Mars.
COTC is even less discernible. And the music is not as good.
By contrast Kilroy, Righteous and Chance are real characters who sing songs that explain their reason for being in an actual story.

The comments on all Styx sites everywhere show the fans displeasure with both new songs from COTC and yes I am so jealous.
The comments on YouTube are especially harsh. I know it’s Dennis people. LOL.

I had no idea that the ‘Styx Camp’ didn’t want questions about Dennis. They asked one though and JY gave a good honest answer to it. He said something like he doubted they would get back together but you never know. It was something like that, and that’s a great answer.

I’m sure JY & Current Styx just want to promote Clash of Crowns and didn’t feel like answering the same old DDY questions.,

This is complete bullshit. You should really stick to things you know about.

Every song on "The Wall" relates to mental illness, the causes of if, the results of it, walling off the outside world, and eventually facing the hurt and pain and tearing down that wall and dealing with things. THAT is what makes a good concept. Even if it is one band members vision, getting the rest of the band together to go with it is critical. Dennis did not have the leadership ability in Styx to do that with Kilroy, or any of the other albums you mention.

And, yes, I'll bring up Ayreon again because his albums did not only span whole albums, but was/is a continous story that bridged multiple album. Again, that is what true leadership and vision can do.

And, here's a song about Mars, just because:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GniS438 ... iNuopponen

.
COTC is even less discernible. And the music is not as good.

You haven't even heard the album and you already judge it. The says everything.

By contrast Kilroy, Righteous and Chance are real characters who sing songs that explain their reason for being in an actual story.

A story that exists on the album cover and one video used to open the concert. The rest of the album barely even follows the story, or even the concept itself. Kilroy does not deserve to mention alongside any great concept album.

The comments on all Styx sites everywhere show the fans displeasure with both new songs from COTC

So what. It shows more about them then it does about the album.

and yes I am so jealous.

Yes, you obviously are. You are so jealous that you were rather talk about Styx new music than Dennis's.

The comments on YouTube are especially harsh. I know it’s Dennis people. LOL.

Yes, they are being Dennis' bitches. And, you are the queen.

EXACTLY. Funny, when they DID talk about Dennis, his bitches complain about what the band said - especially JY. Now that they ask to stay off the subject, they bitch about that, too. Again, FUCK DENNIS...Styx should just do what they want and ignore all of the drama. Promote the songs, not the bullshit drama.

As someone who has interviewed JY, Tommy and Dennis all for radio I was never given any "ground rules" by anyone. I was NEVER told not to ask questions about Dennis. Maybe I was the exception I don't know but these "rules" were nothing I went over with anybody.

As for the concept, it is actually pretty easy to figure out what it is about. When I saw the title of the album I thought I had an idea. Then when I heard Reveries it was obvious what the loose concept is.

DJ
This is a recent demand from Styx management. Dennis knew nothing about it until interviewers in both print and radio told him. I have the follow up Dennis interview with the same KSHE people who did JY where they tell Dennis what happened.
How would you deal with that sort of ask if you were interviewing them?

Personally, I would avoid the question. Whenever doing interviews I would play it safe. But that's just me.
