Cats in the Cradle
Tainted Love
Can't Hurry Love
We've Got Tonight
Did any of these chart?
Who did Cats In The Cradle?
Yes, they all did...they must have because I used to hear them constantly. Ugly Kid Joe, big in the 80s, re-recorded "Cats..."
Ugly Kid Joe was actually a 90s band. Their first record came out in late 91 or early 92. Their cover of "Cats in the Cradle" was on their second record.
As for the other songs listed, they were all big hits in the 80s.
Off the top of my head, here are some other cover songs that were big in the 80s :
Joan Jett's version of "I Love Rock and Roll"
Bow Wow Wow's version of "I Want Candy"
David Lee Roth's versions of "California Girl" and "Just a Gigolo"
After the Fire's version of "Der Kommisar"
Toni Basil's version of "Mickey"
Poison's version of "Your Mama Don't Dance"
Bowie and Jagger's version of "Dancing in the Streets"
Power Station's version of "Bang a Gong"
Great White's version of "Once Bitten, Twice Shy"
Plus that really bad medley of "Freebird/Baby, I Love Your Way" by Will to Power
