This is the letter that Carrie DeYoung sent into Rolling Stone Magazine, Correspondence section pg 8 May 2005.

Your cover story struck a chord. I'm the daughter of the lead singer of Styx, Dennis DeYoung. I was a true road baby. I traveled with my father from age seven until high school. My parents raised us in a very grounded environment, outside Chicago, which always made it interesting when I was picked up by a limo to leave for another three weeks. Aside from living in hotel rooms, seeing crazy fans jumping on the cars and roller-skating in arenas before the seats went up, I have led as normal a life as possible.

Thanks for posting that, NH. I really wanted to read that issue of Rolling Stone. Was the article about children of rock stars (stars?) a good one?

CADY's letter fit right in with Dennis' note on his website.

From the what I know about both Matthew and CarrieAnn DeYoung, their parents did a great job of raising some good, honest, hard-working kids in the context of a crazy rock and roll world.

I didn't pick up the original edition to which this refers. This was a letter in response to that article.

I thought it was interesting that she refers to Dennis in the present tense as the lead singer of Styx and not the former lead singer of Styx.

I find that interesting as well, however I wonder if she chose to word it that way as a means of identifying herself. Don't know.

What's touring now under that name is irrelevent.

I think everyone is reading WAY too much into her comment about "the lead singer of Styx." I would imagine it was in reference to the subjects covered in the article. Simply used as an identifying point.

Whats irrelevent is a Bon Jovi fan posting anti-Styx venom daily on a classic rock internet Styx forum.

Think about it. "Classic Rock"?????

20 years from now I doubt the term "classic rock" will be remembered, much less "RELEVENT".

I agree (with Sadie & Bugsy's take on the comment, not the arguing part, that is). I mean, for nearly all CarrieAnn's life this was the case. Why try to explain in what's supposed to be a brief letter to the editor? Did anyone out there read the article she's referring to? Did it mention Styx? If not, could this be the first time that Styx was mentioned in RS and it WASN'T negative?

I did not read the article, but I think Styx was probably not a part of it, in keeping with how that magazine has always operated.

The other day I heard both Journey and Kansas on the oldies station here. Geez, can Geritol be around the corner? Don't answer that :wink:

Hate to break it to you, but in our market we already have overlapping play lists on the "oldies" and "classic rock" stations!
