Not impressive at all. Kiss debuted at #3 with Psycho Circus in 1998. <Evil Laugh>

I just looked on Billboard's top 100 chart for albums that ends May 21, 2005... and Styx is not on it... this is the album chart. Now sometimes this stuff is a week behind so I could be wrong... and I don't doubt what you're saying... I'm just looking for the evidence myself because...... well frankly I don't trust what people say on a forum lock, stock and barrel.

Paradise Theater sold 3 million copies in 3 years! That is 1 million copies a year. Which is 83,333 a month. Put into weeks that is 19,231 copies per week! Granted that is an average of copies sold, and the cd did hit # 1. Just wanted to braek it down. Iam a Styx fan, and a Dennis Fan. I wnat to see both do good, and want to see both in concert. If this cd stayed around 50 for the next 3 years (which I do not think it will) It could have Pardise Theater sells without breaking the top 40.
My point is some out there thought the cd wouldnot even crack the top 100. They made to top 50! Be happy. It's not happened since 84! Styx and Dennis will never have the sells of the 80"s, wish they would, but not in todays market. Comparing sales from the 80's to todays is like comparing apples and oranges. It's not the same market, people and how the sales are tracked.
Be Happy for them.-ERIC
and to all you rabid Pit Bulls out there, how 'bout a moritorium on the negativity ? think of it this way, if you back off a bit now, we may actually read your "I told you so" posts in a few weeks when the sales inevitably decline.

Record companies are in the biz of selling records right? Would YOU invest YOUR MONEY on the career of an aging race horse who hasn't won a race in DECADES? Would you put your money in a bank that yields lower interest than the newer bank next door?
Ocaisionally there is a sustained career in rock. RunDMC brought back Aerosmith from the 'where are they now?' file. But nothing lasts forever. Styx(nor Dennis) just aint the youthful act they once were. It's Jimmy Eat World time, when you're talking about business and SALES.
Now does sales have ANYTHING to do with QUALITY? Anyone who thinks so is missing a historical perspective. Things that last don't always equate with sales.
I mean, Irene Cara sure sold alot of records once - she probably outsold Styx singles during her 15 minutes of Fame (pardon the pun). Do you miss her music?

My head was probably in it's all-too-often 'Froy debate' mode, so it may have come out seeming I was disagreeing with you. I think we agree more often than not in fact. Sorry if I wrote anything you might've interpreted as otherwise.

My guess is, some of this stuff will go up and down for awhile yet. Walrus dropped off the Mediabase chart and then came right back.
Personally I think they need to release one of the Tommy-led songs as a single next and support it with a video.
