Just had the guy who is putting together Live Aid 2 along with Geldof on a TV chat show and he confirmed that they are in discussions with Pink Floyd for them to headline the UK show with Madonna approached to co headline in the states with The Eagles.

I wouldn't bother Darren, doubt Floyd would reform for this anyway. Will be the same old crap that always roll out in these UK charity bashes, a motley collection of sad old queens and leftovers from that overrated 60s boyband. Better to stick with Larry and the boys, the party starts in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

McCartney, Stones, Madonna lined up for 'Live Aid II'
May 31, 2005

London - A who's who of popular music are set to perform next month in a massive successor concert to the Live Aid charity event of 1985, Britain's Daily Telegraph reported today.

The line-up includes Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, U2 and Madonna.

The event is scheduled to be announced by Irish pop star-turned development activist Bob Geldof in London later today, the newspaper said.

The July 2 event will take place simultaneously in London, Philadelphia and, possibly, other countries worldwide.

The report said names already confirmed also include the Spice Girls whose original five-member line up last performed together in 1998, and the classic line-up of veteran British rockers Pink Floyd.

Although the concert is being seen as a successor to Live Aid, also organised by Geldof, which raised huge sums for African famine relief, the purpose of the new event is very different.

It will be called Live 8, and is timed to take place just before the July 6 to 8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland, of lead-ers from the Group of Eight (G8) industrialised nations' club.

In a separate report, the Daily Mirror said that the Spice Girls, whose return has been much predicted in recent months, had actually been turned down by Live 8 organisers.

Citing a source in the BBC, which is to broadcast the show, the paper said the group were seen as too manufactured and not in keeping with the event's serious purpose. - Sapa-AFP.

No, by your logic you would expect someone who is pro-Dennis to not like Floyd post-Barrett, completely missing the point that the line-up that makes the most impact is the most significant, not the original line-up.

A point that is most often lost on Carrot Styx lovers who delude themselves into thinking these are the glory days of Styx.

I think most people here would agree that Styx' glory days are behind them (even if the 1998 ousting never took place), but I could be wrong. Even if we could somehow magically put the classic lineup together on stage (with a couple of hit singles to boot), I would still doubt that they could replicate their past success.

On another note, do you think it gives Froy great pleasure to continually see the title of this thread pop up at the top of the list ?

Us fans who support this lineup are realists. We appreciate the past lineups and we appreciate the present lineup. No one is dillusional about where the current lineup is compared to the glory days. We just like what is being put out musically today and have put the politics of the band aside.
