HOTS, everyone here has said they will buy whatever music Perry puts out. We just don't think it will be rock, which is fine. We understand his voice has matured, changed, whatever word you want to use. We still respect his talent. You are the one who is losing out by not giving Journey a chance without Perry...
perryfaithful wrote:I never look back and wish Perry sounded like he did during Infinity. I thought it was cool then....doesn't excite me now. BUT I respect that part of their history and still enjoy listening to it with that in mind. Things change...thank Goodness
perryfaithful wrote:If Journey had continued as I know it, there would have been more hits to love... Times have changed.
perryfaithful wrote:Do you hear the NEW stuff requiring some of this "range" that you all like to clamor about?" Wait....wasn't that important?

Yes, I DO hear some range on "Generations" that I believe Perry would not be able to pull off today. Is it important? No, but it sounds DAMN good to my ears. Maybe you wouldn't ask such frivolous questions if you actually HEARD the material BEFORE commenting on it.

It's definitely not mine, I don't want another FTLOSM, mediocre piece of garbage. Perry has more problems then just his range. He turned his back on his own influences and instead turned to pop garbage. He forgot how to write great songs, and he lost the band that put him on top. He was obviously over the hill with FTLOSM, He was at the bottom with GH+5. His solo stuff is an insignificant pebble when compared to the mountain of qulaity music of Journey....Why do you think HE milks the Journey name by doing things like the Monster soundtrack and the DVD's, instead of recording new solo stuff? He knows where his solo career stands, and it's not in a good place.
Steve Perry being a 'star' in the music biz is long over. It was over as soon as he released "I Stand Alone", and it went nowhere. The pop crap he wants to write and sing is no longer what the public wants to hear...especialy from a 60something year old man.
It's over for Perry...It's been over for about ten years.
perryfaithful wrote:Sorry Dave but I would not be suffering if Journey were not here at all.....

The reason Steve Perry did the Monster soundtrack was because he said he recieved a letter ASKING HIM to use the song for the movie, & then became more involved with helping out with the music in the movie.
As for the DVD Greatest Hits,THE FANS have been ASKING for the classic DVD's for a very long time. It was said by Perry that John Koladner called him & ASKED HIM to help out with the DVD projects, so Steve Perry is NOT milking the Journey name. He is giving the fans what they want!!!
As for your other comments, Steve Perry can sing ANY KIND of music HE WANTS to & I would buy it!!!![]()
The ONLY thing that I wish was "over" is your tiresome unkind remarks about Steve Perry!

Lori, the fact that Perry agreed to these projects (especially since he knows he will financially benefit from them) could be considered 'milking' the Journey name. But Monker's point was that you do see Perry doing any projects based on his solo work. (And he was also hinting at the point that many Perry-only fans have accused Journey of milking their own name.
And Monker's remarks are only 'unkind' because you do not agree with them.

Right, but Perry controls the issue. If he says YES it gets done, if he says NO it doesn't.
